PSP - Tutorial On using Skype software in PSP
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced that Skype for the PSP is finally live. Now worldwide PSP 2000 owners may now get to place calls using their handhelds so long as they have a WiFi spot within their own area.
Ourhappyshopping.com has posted a guide to help fans with accessing Skype through their handheld. The following is the step-by-step guide :
*Install the 3.90 firmware upgrade to the PSP-2000 system.
* Connect the PSP to the Internet via Wi-Fi hotspot.
* Attach a PSP Headset and the Remote Control from the PSP-2000 Headphones to the system, and insert a Memory Stick Duo to save the Skype application software.
* Access the Skype/Sign In icon within the Network category of the XMB menu. If you ve never used Skype on your PC, you can create a free account directly on your PSP. If you already have a Skype account, you can simply enter your username/password.
* To make a call, either access the Contacts icon and click on a name or scroll to the Dial icon and use the keypad.
In the meantime, enjoy this new service you can avail through your Sony PSP.
The service is free to use to call other Skype users, whether they are on a PSP or the PC. However, to make calls to regular phone numbers one does should have Skype credits in advance. As mentioned before, this service is only available to owners of the new model PSP2000. This is due to Skype software needs more RAM to act as buffer for speech .
